another tinner challenge

This is another of the dinner challenges. I don't know what the theme is for this one. I believe it is from the second group or at least I have not seen it in my group yet. Hard to believe that Christmas is all over already. We had a nice time. Had dinner on Dec. 23 and met my son's girlfriend for the first time. All went well. Then on Dec. 25 both kids were home. Opened gifts in morning and went to Dave's brothers for dinner. A very nice day as well. We got a bit of a freezing storm last night. Seems ok this morning but the evening was really windy. Got the quilt I am making for Dave about half done. I am doing quilt as I go and the center is done. I just have to do the borders now. Happy quilting to all :)Carol

Dec already

These are 2 of the tinner challenge items from my guild. Each person that wanted to take part, brought in a tin and $10.00. The organizer purchased a focus fabric for each tin. Then there was a theme or pattern for each tin. I think the one on the left was Christmas and the one on the right was Garden. We are still working on the tins. We are not sure how they go to each of us after but we will find out some time this spring. It has been fun. We had 2 groups. 11 in one and I think 12 in the other. Christmas is almost upon us....Merry Christmas to all and All the best in the new year. Happy quilting. Carol

Friday, November 29, 2013

Wow, it's hard to believe that the last time I posted here was July 30. What happened to the time. I just returned from 5 weeks with my Mom. Flew to Ont. and was with her a week at home and then we drove to Florida where she spends the winter. I stayed with her there for 4 weeks. Flew home on Nov. 27. Above is a picture of the painting/mural my daughter Jenn, did on the side of our small garage. It sure has been nice to see every day. Hopefully I will get my trip pictures uploaded from my camera and I will find time to share a few with you here on my blog. Happy quilting :)Carol

cloth slippers/ charity quilt

Cloth slippers made by craft guild members. They will be donated to Inn from the Cold...a charity group here in Calgary. Quilt I was working on for our stone soup day. That is the day that we made charity quilts. I wasn't sure how to make the quilt bigger. Members gave me some idea for the final border. Happy quilting, :)Carol

tinner block/ mystery step one

Another tinner block Online mystery, step one. Here it is March 26 already, where does the time go. I have been reorganizing my sewing space so that I have a desk that I can leave my fairly new embroidery machine set up on. This will allow me to do more embroidery. It is a very big job to do this reorg as my sewing room is very unorganized at the moment and contains alot of stuff. I also have a quilt to finish up before April 23 so I can take it to Ontario to give to a girlfriend that is surviving breast cancer. I already have it basted and the label is ready to be sewn on, then I will do some machine quilting and make the binding. Hope I have enough time to finish this for her. We are about to go out for a walk with the dog so this will be it for now. Happy quilting everyone. :)Carol

crazy quilt block for "1970's theme"

These are the first 2 blocks for the "1970's theme" of the tinner exchange I am working on at my guild. I did the spiderweb block. Had a very busy day at work today. Then rushed to UofC with daughter and hubby for an information night. Jenn is starting on her degree in Sept. Wants to go into ecology but has to start with natural science major and change later. Entrance average for the ecology degree is 90% this year. She has an 81% average so she made a change and was accepted. She can change over later in the 4 years if she still wants to do so. Happy quilting. :)Carol

zendoodle ruler holder

My daughter made me a ruler holder for my birthday and did zendoodle to decorate it. I really like it. I finally have it on my cutting table with several rulers in it. Thanks, Jenn. I don't think that I will be making it to my sewing room today. It is already 7:24pm and I have other things to do. Oh well, maybe tomorrow. :)Carol
Hard to believe that I have not posted since Nov. We did have Dave's dad pass away on Dec. 13 and then in Jan. we went to Florida for a month. Hubby had a kidney stone removed in Feb and the I got a cold. So I guess maybe my life has slowed down a little. I will try to post more often. I have lots of pictures that I can post. So hopefully......time will tell. Happy quilting/Happy St. Paddy's day/ Happy quilting day. :)Carol
